Jacksonville Jaguars Tickets

A relatively recent addition to the NFL, the Jacksonville Jaguars almost never came into existence. When the NFL announced the cities considered candidates for expansion in 1993, Jacksonville was considered the last choice. Florida, after all, had plenty of football teams already. Even so, in a surprise decision the NFL decided to form the Jacksonville Jaguars, leaving many disappointed St. Louis residents with suddenly meaningless “St. Louis Stallions” shirts.

The Jacksonville Jaguars started off with an almost immediate bang, making it to the playoffs and accomplishing several impressive upsets in their second season. In 2000, they even went head to head with the luminary Miami Dolphins and completely destroyed them, winning by a 55-point margin and proving that they really had what it takes to play with the big boys. It wasn’t perfect, though, as just a couple years later, coach and general manager Tom Coughlin mismanaged funds causing the loss of several key players. Coughlin badmouthed his team to the press and was promptly fired and replaced by Jack Del Rio. Del Rio had a much more positive attitude, focusing on working with the players to get them to improve rather than yelling at and embarrassing them for results.

The change was nearly instant, with the team turning around a multi year losing streak and quickly becoming the powerful, new upstarts they were when they were founded. Fans of the Jacksonville Jaguars are in an enviable position, having a solid, established team with a comparatively short history, letting current fans get in on the ground floor and really help mold the team’s identity and traditions.
